Several county and town government leaders were present at a recent Rockville Rotary Club meeting to receive an update on the proceedings of the 119th session of the Indiana General Assembly.    Shown are (L-R) county commissioner president Jim Meece, Rockville town council president Dr. Steve Waltz, Rockville town council vice-president Debra Ackerman, state representative Alan Morrison who presented the update, Rockville Rotarian and program chairman Mark Spelbring and county council president John Pratt.

 

   Representative Morrison indicated the session was highlighted by passage of bills related to the state budget, education, ethics and public safety.   He also discussed the special legislation he sponsored that now allows Rockville to impose a food and beverage tax which should provide additional funds to repair the streets within town.  

       The Rotary Club of Rockville is one of over 34,000 Rotary International clubs world-wide promoting community service, peace and understanding.  The Club normally meets on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. at the Thirty-Six Saloon family room.
